RICHARD JONES APPOINTED
DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
FOR MYERS INDUSTRIES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 8, 2004, Akron, Ohio USA -- Myers Industries, Inc. (NYSE: MYE) announces the appointment of Richard Jones to director of information technology. Mr. Jones is responsible for the management of technology and information systems for the Company, including system development, strategic planning, and IT program integration, and coordinating these services across Myers Industries’ North American operations. He is based at the Company’s headquarters in Akron.

Mr. Jones comes to Myers Industries from a distinguished 15-year career as information technology director with Belden & Blake Corporation, a North Canton, Ohio, company engaged in oil and natural gas exploration and production.

Mr. Jones holds a B.A. degree in economics from Mount Union College. He is a member of the Association of Information Technology Professionals, American Management Association, and Contingency Planners of Ohio. He and his family reside in Jackson Township, Ohio.
